I started your yoga class shortly after the sudden death of my husband of 32 years. I was pretty much a basket case, mentally, emotionally and physically and suffering from severe anxiety and panic attacks. I tried anti-anxiety drugs but as I have since learned, they are not for everyone. Because of the panic attacks, I found it very difficult to do anything outside my ordinary routine; summoning the courage to come to the first class was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Lorey has a very calming and accepting demeanor, which made me feel safe enough to continue. I am stronger and braver, and I am learning how to tap into a calm and peaceful center when anxiety overwhelms me. I have started travelling again, something I never thought I would have the courage to do on my own. Yoga has strengthened me emotionally, physically and mentally as well as reconnecting me.

More Testimonials

Yoga has had a transforming effect on me.  Last year I was in a motorcycle accident and injured my shoulder and ribs.  I could barely lift my hand over my head.  Physical therapy was only moderately successful and I was left with a lot of pain and limited range of motion.  With yoga I learned to listen to my body and was able to regain full range of motion. The process was painless.  In addition, at 41 years of age, I have never been more physically fit than I am now. Yoga has allowed me to calm my demons and re-focus my life with strength and integrity.
Yoga has been a predominant force in our lives for as long as we have taken it (about 10 years now) – it’s a wonderful journey that you can take at your own pace.
Health (physical, mental, spiritual) benefits are undeniable, as it invigorates your whole being.  Strengthens bones, heals the body (of decades of arthritis for myself), quiets the mind (my nephews thought I was on Prozac – I thought my world was a crazy as ever, but obviously something was different about me, happening so gradually, that I didn’t even notice it), helps you regain and retain flexibility (which essentially equals retaining youthful qualities and activities – woo hoo, who doesn’t want that?), helps during stressful situations (breathe, breathe!!).  We were pretty spiritual to start with, and everything melds and galvanizes there for us.
OK – so all this happens SO WELL because we are with Lorey.  She is a total blessing!!!  She is so knowledgeable and so real.  She knows what we need; she knows how to make your session personalized, yet with the community in mind.  She is incredibly trained (this is an understatement) and herself always on a journey (to India and elsewhere) of learning and growing.  Since starting with Lorey, I have taken a couple of other classes along the way (on vacations, with my mother, etc), and truly nothing can compare to the Hatha Yoga we learn from and with Lorey.

Yoga has kept me flexible and strong as well as enhanced my peace of mind. The effects of a yoga practice are subtle as well as overt and  I can tell if I've missed a class by how my body works. The lasting , beneficial effects of one session  of yoga  practice is evident throughout my week.  Kelly

I began practicing yoga a little over a year ago.  I wanted to add something different to many existing exercise routine and I thought that it might also help me to control my everyday stresses.  The first thing I learned was that it was not going to be as easy as I thought.  I was not very flexible, but I do have to say I have come a long way.  Everyone works at their own ability and whatever you can do is fine, the practice of yoga is a very personal a work in progress.

I have learned how to breath and I know that sounds silly, but connecting with my breathing helps me to release and use my core muscles to get into positions that I previously could not.  I have increased my stretch and strengthen my inner muscles.  It has helped me to become more balanced and more able to focus on the task at hand.

The things that I have gotten from yoga that I didn't expect to and do not still totally understand is the physical well being that I feel.  I leave every class feeling better about myself and revitalized.  It clears my mind of tension and somehow brings me into a state of peace.  In my everyday life this has some how translated into a more calm me and makes me more tolerant and understanding of other people.  Namaste,  Connie

My wife and I have been taking yoga classes from Lorey for over 10 years.  This is an important time for both of us since it is the one evening during the week that we both do something together besides rushing through dinner or shopping or chores.  We get to slow down together, strengthen our core, and learn how to breathe in the joy, beauty, and wonder of this world.  Lorey is always fun to be with--she seems to know just what "customizations" need to be done for each person.  I remember I overdid a certain stretch one night, and as soon as I winced, she knew immediately what had happened and had me get in a position that relieved the pain from the muscles that I had strained.  My 61-year old body has learned how to do amazing things, my hips are stretchable almost beyond understanding, and I know that my flexibility has kept me safe from other injuries.  The meditation and breathing exercises are a haven for me.  Most surprising is that I have cried several times doing deep muscle stretches as some long-buried emotions seem to get released.  I never would have imagined, but Lorey says it's common.  Our physical bodies carry long-buried secrets.  Come along and learn how to release some of those mental, spiritual, and physical demons!  And improve your marriage at the same time!
